A SCOTTISH BASKET-HILTED BACKSWORD
Early 18th Century
With straight tapering fullered blade retaining faint traces of etched decoration on one side of the forte (point missing), iron guard of slender bars involving two 'S's and framing fretted panels (one repaired) pierced with slots and circles, domed pommel, and later wooden grip (pitted overall, quillon-tip missing)
