A VISIGOTHIC GOLD AND CARNELIAN FINGER RING
Circa 650-700 A.D.
The hoop composed of three beaded wires spiralled together, joined to the sides of the octagonal box bezel, with three granules at each join, the bezel set with a Roman oval stone, circa 2nd century A.D., engraved with Nemesis, depicted winged, holding her garment out with one hand, a branch in the other, a modius atop her head, the wheel of fortune at her feet, the flat surface of the bezel deeply inscribed with a cross and the name HISEMUNDUS
