A MEROVINGIAN GOLD AND NICOLO FINGER RING
Circa 7th Century A.D.
The hoop a sheet strap ornamented with bands of plain, beaded and rope wires, joined to the underside of the oval bezel, two large granules at the join, the bezel flanged with beaded wire, set with a Roman bevelled stone, circa late 1st-early 2nd century A.D., engraved with a man clad in a belted tunic leaning forward with a staff, holding a small round object, perhaps a ball, above the head of a nude child, on a short groundline
