Lot Essay

An unusual feature of this rich chandelier are the distinctively seperated tiers connected by chains. The palmettes in gilt-lead are also rare, and relate to Regency prototypes, such as those on a chandelier in Rosewood Plantation and Gardens, which is illustrated in H. Parrott Bacot, Nineteenth Century Lighting, Candle-powered devices: 1783-1883, West Chester, 1987, p. 240.
