A BRONZE FIGURE OF THE YOUNG PAN
By Benedetto Boschetti (1820-1860), after the antique, first half 19th century
Depicted wearing a panther skin, holding a pipe in his left hand and resting on a tree stump; on an integral circular bronze plinth signed 'B. BOSCHETTI ROMA', and a cylindrical red and black marble base indistinctly inscribed to the upper surface.
Light brown patina; minor chips to base.

The present lot is a bronze reduction of a Hadrianic figure, itself a copy of a Greek prototype dating to around the 4th century BC, and housed in the Musei Capitolini, Rome.
