Lot Essay

Rudolf von Larisch (b. 1856) is considered by many to be the godfather of truly modern lettering. He taught ornamental lettering (and heraldry) at the Kunstgewerbeschule as a colleague of Koloman Moser, and later acted as a consultant to the Wiener Werkstätte in all matters concerning lettering on printed material.
