The drawing will be included in the supplement to K.E. Maison's Catalogue raisonné of the works by Honoré Daumier now in preparation by the Comité Daumier.
The drawing is very close in subject and composition to two drawn versions of L'accusation in private collections (K.E. Maison, Honoré Daumier, catalogue raisonné of the paintings, watercolours and drawings, Paris, 1968, II, nos. 665-6). Two other similar drawings of lawyers pleading are illustrated in K.E. Maison, nos. 625 and 629.
