SOUTHEY, Robert (1774-1843). The poems show the range of Southey's verse writing, from the occasional poem addressed to a friend, capturing the 'rarest genius, & ... sterling worth' of Charles Lamb, to the traditional poem of seasonal description ('Rough is thine entrance March!'), to the prophetic vision of the 'Ode', and the historical romance of the 'Shipwrecked Spaniards'.
