LATE 17TH CENTURY
Painted with the Madonna and child, the naked infant playing with a string device painted in manganese and held in the Virgin's hands, she wears a striped head-scarf and robe enriched in yellow, blue and green foliate scrolls, the Infant lies across her lap with a yellow halo above his head, two putti heads look on, reserved against a architectural trompe l'oeil background, enriched in hues of ochre, yellow, blue and green, within an ebonised frame (cracked and repaired)
