A LARGE PAINTED POTTERY JAR
NEOLITHIC PERIOD, YANGSHAO CULTURE, BANSHAN TYPE, CIRCA 3000-2500 BC
The broad shoulder painted in black and red with sweeping spirals lined with saw-tooth borders centering four circular medallions, two decorated with diamond pattern filled with crosshatching, the others divided into quadrants enclosing large dots, with a pair of loop handles where the body begins to taper sharply to the small flat base
