A Small Porcelain Dish
Okawachi, Nabeshima ware, Edo period (circa 1690)
Circular, on a high circular foot designed in the interior with a wide band of chrysanthemum scroll, the florets and scrollwork created by the background of underglaze-blue and the details of the flowers painted with thin lines of underglaze-blue, the flowers and leaves painted with an underglaze-blue wash; the underside painted in underglaze-blue with three large peony sprays and the foot with a band of slanted overlapped leaves within narrow double-lines, the entire dish also covered overall save the footrim with a transparent glaze
5½in. (14.1cm.) diameter; 1 7/8in. (4.7cm.) high
