A Short Sword (Wakizashi) in Mounts (Koshirae)
Edo period (19th century), partial signature Kawachi (no) kuni
Shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune, chu-gissaki and slight koshi-zori; forging pattern itame with a gunome midare tempered edge and a small rounded tip; the tang shortened with two peg holes
Koshirae comprising a black lacquer scabbard fitted with a shakudo nanako kozuka, the blade signed Shonai ju Shino Itchoku saku kore and kogai decorated with a bow and arrows in gilt; the hilt fitted with fuchi-gashira with paulownia and phoenix in gilt and shakudo with a nanako ground; iron mokko tsuba with a dragon in low-relief

With a certificate for the koshirae issued by the Nihon Token Hozon Kai (Society for the Preservation of the Japanese Sword), dated 2002.9.8
