A Long Sword (Katana) in Mounts (Koshirae)
Edo period (19th century), signed Taro Teruyoshi and with kao and dated Bunkyu gan'nen hachi gatsu hi (1861.8)
The blade shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune and o-gissaki with torii-zori curvature and with a wide naginata-hi carved on both sides; the forging pattern ko-mokume with the tempered edge a gentle waving notare line with a large rounded tip and a long turnback; the long ubu tang with one mekugi-ana and sujikai filemarks
Koshirae comprising a black and red-lacquer saya with metal kojiri and kurigata with dragons and vines in gilt; the hilt fitted with iron fuchi-gashira with dragons in clouds with gilt details and a pair of gilt menuki of Chinese lions; the iron tsuba pierced with cherry blossoms
