A Short Sword (Wakizashi) in Mounts (Koshirae)
Edo period (19th century), inscribed Kanju rei
Shinogi-zukuri, chu-gissaki, iori-mune and torii-zori with a ko-itame forging pattern and a notare tempered edge; tang unshortened with sujikai file marks and one mekugi-ana
Koshirae comprising a green-lacquer scabbard with shakudo nanako kirigata with cherry blossoms in gilt and a kojiri with damascene inlays; hilt with shakudo and gilt menuki of leaves and kashira matching the scabbard hardware; tsuba iron plate signed Chu and with kao (cursive monogram)
