A RARE CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER VASE
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
Of square section, finely carved around the shoulder with a pair of intertwined scrolling dragons around each face flanked by formal lotus lappets enclosing stylised dragons and archaistic elements, with further lappet borders towards the base and stylised cicada on the splayed foot, all reserved on a diaper ground, the foot and rim encircled by classic borders, the applied handles formed as undulating acanthus leaves (minor repairs)
