Identical tiles, together with those of a similar design but with the two major elements reversed from the present design, can be found in situ on the facade of the Throne Room at the Topkapi Palace (Porter, Venetia: Islamic Tiles, London, 1995, pl.90, p.101 - the identical tiles to ours can just be seen appearing at the top of the picture). Tils of this design were also used to decorate the türbe of Sultan Selim I (built 1522) and the mosque of Kasim Pasha at Bozüyük, built in 1529.

Four further examples of this design can be found in the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, Lisbon, (Calouste Gulbenkian Musée, Catalogue, Lisbon, 1982, p.37, fig.107), while two more were in the Fouad Matouk Collection, Beirut (Art Islamique dans les collections privées libanaises, exhibition catalogue, Beirut, 1974, no.102, p.130). Three further examples were sold at Sotheby's, London, 16 October 1998, lot 57.
