Half title, lithographed frontispiece on india paper mounted, 18 plates and plans, including 6 on india paper mounted, 2 hand-coloured of which one is folding and one folding panorama, 2 folding maps, including one hand-coloured in outline, one facsimile letter of the author's certificate of ascent. (Lightly spotted throughout, folding panorama with 2 small ink spots.) Contemporary half calf, contrasting lettering-piece (spine a little faded and scuffed, small ink stain on front cover, extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: The Hon. Charles Russell (bookplate) -- Oscar V. Viney (bookplate and signature dated March 1934) -- Le Stravan (bookplate). FIRST EDITION, LARGE PAPER COPY of this classic work on Alpine literature.
