Lot Essay

The accompanying typescript letter is from Jennifer Wilt, widow of Bill Wilt, a stagehand who worked for various film studios including M.G.M., 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. throughout his 30-year Hollywood career. According to Mrs Wilt, the cufflink and tie clip set in this Lot were given to her husband by Elvis Presley who apparently always kept a box of jewellery in his dressing room, and had a reputation for giving items away to people he befriended.
