Lot Essay
This would seem to be the court of the Temple dedicated to the worship of the god of the moon, Khons. It was one of the temples within the huge enclosure of the Temple of Amun at Karnak, Thebes. The open court was surrounded on three sides by a double colonnade with papyrus bud capitals and led to the hypostyle hall, which had taller columns, allowing light to penetrate through a clerestory. The columns as seen here are truly massive, and only partially excavated. The ruins of part of the hypostyle hall and sanctuary can be glimpsed through the sequence of doorways.
This seems to be the only view of this temple in the archive.
