Maria Theresia (1717-1780) crowned Queen of Bohemia and Hungary in 1740, married Franz I (1708-1765) in 1736, who was crowned Duke of Lorraine in 1729, Grand Duke of Tuscany in 1737 and Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire in 1745.
William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland (1721-1765), third son of King George II, served with distinction at Dettingen in 1743. He had defeated Prince Charles Stewart 'Bonnie Prince Charles' at Culloden and had been nicknamed 'the Butcher' for his severity against the Jacobites.
