Lot Essay

The iron full-rigger Industrie was built by L. Smit & Zoon at Kinderdyke, Netherlands, in 1872. Registered at 1,690 tons and measuring 228 feet in length with a 43 foot beam, this work was presumably painted to mark her completion and maiden voyage.
