Lot Essay

EC: This is one of the first signatures...from the second series.

LD: 000-28 is the only one that went into, and still is, in full production, whereas all the others were limited editions. This is one of Martin's biggest selling guitars ever... According to Dick Boek they walk out of the door every day these guitars, they're so popular.
CW: Is this one that was bought as a spare for the George Harrison concert, that Dhani Harrison played?

LD: When we did the George tribute at the Albert Hall we had a massive wonderful period of rehearsals... Eric said at one point we're going to need a lot of guys on stage with acoustics, so just in case we don't have enough, let's get some more Martins. Dick Boek sent us four 000-28 ECs ..and they were just on a rack and one day Albert Lee would pick one up and run through something with it, and Dhani Harrison played this one at the Ferrari Christmas Party. Someone else would grab one...they were utility guitars. ..So it's been played quite a lot in rehearsals.
