A German silver-gilt Bakers' guild cup and cover
Mark of Johann Wilhelm Dammann, Augsburg, 1755-1757
On speading foot and with vase-shaped stem cast and chased with shells, scrolls and flowers, the inverted pear-shaped bowl chased with six shaped shell and scroll cartouches, each engraved with a coat-of-arms and name on the Guild-master, later hung with four pendant cartouches, similarly engraved and with inscription on reverse dating from 1759 to 1803 and with a saying or proverb, the detachable cover applied with a cartouche engraved with a coat-of-arms and applied with foliate scrolls and the figure of a man at a trough kneading dough, marked on foot, cover and one pendant shield
