Four 19th-Century beam balances in mahogany cases,
including: a steel coin beam balance, 19th-Century, second quarter, with copper pans and three weights, the mahogany case with a maker's label on the inside lid for Benj.n Payne NEAR Southampton Street, green felt lining and one hook and eye -- 15cm. (5 7/8in.) wide; a steel tea beam balance with copper pans and five weights, contained in a mahogany case (one hinge damaged) with green cloth lining and one hook and eye -- 22.7cm. (9in.) wide; a mahogany case containing a steel beam with HUDSON stamped on the fulcrum, one copper and two glass pans and sixteen weights, the case with a handwritten label on the interior of the lid for measurement, red plush lining and a foot-shaped hook and eye --26.7cm. (10in.) wide; and a portable and detachable swan-necked beam balance, assembled on the interior of the lid via a fixed screw clamp, with four brass rods, one steel beam, one hook, a glass slide and glass pan, and six cylindrical weights with knobs, contained in a purple plush-lined wooden box with handwritten measurements on the inside lid -- 19.5cm.
