CIRCA 1728-30, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARKS AND GILDER'S 70. TO BOTH, SAUCER WITH INCISED , TO FOOTRIM
The beaker painted in Schwarzlot by C.F. Herold with merchants on a quayside before ships, within an elongated gilt quatrefoil cartouche with Böttger-lustre panels edged with gilt scrolls supporting puce diaper panels, foliage scrolls and pendant swags supporting Oriental figures above and enclosing two small vignettes below, the gilt double-scroll handle flanked by two purple indianische Blumen sprays, the interior with a gilt lappet and husk border, the saucer with merchants by a statue in a fine port, the similar cartouche with surmounted by a mask and with a single vignette below, within a similar gilt border, the underside with three concentric iron-red circles (beaker with restored footrim with associated refreshed gilding to gilt line at footrim, slight wear to gilt rim, saucer with minute wear to enamels and very slight wear to gilding)

A bowl and two other beakers from this service were sold by Sotheby's on 3rd March 1982, lots 58 and 59.
