CIRCA 1725, GILDER'S 12. TO BOTH, BEAKER UNDERGLAZE BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, SAUCER WITH ENAMEL BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK AND DREHER'S INCISED TO FOOTRIM
Painted in the workshop of J.G. Höroldt, the beaker with two river-landscape scenes with merchants at various pursuits within elongated quatrefoil gilt cartouches with Böttger-lustre panels edged with gilt scrolls and issuing red and puce scrolls supporting vessels and red diaper panels at the sides, the diaper panels meeting to enclose small gilt and puce camïeu vignettes of Oriental figures, the saucer with two merchants at discussion in a port, the cartouche with lozenge-shaped diaper panels at the intersections, within a similar gilt border, the underside with three Kakiemon flower-sprays, gilt Laub-und-Bandelwerk borders (very slight areas of wear, beaker with restored rim chip and associated crack, saucer with restored chip to underside of rim)
