A Buen Retiro Satyr group
CIRCA 1760-65
Finely modelled, probably by Giuseppe Gricci, with a satyr with pointed ears, two horns on his forehead and a short tail, his unshaven face with pointed features, his naked muscular torso stippled with flesh-tones, his legs with long shaggy brown hair and cloven hooves, seated on a large white rock with a young satyr stretched out asleep on his lap, on a shaped oval mound base applied at the front with grapes and fruit at his feet (base with large chip and smaller slender chip to front, element possibly lacking at right, young satyr with large chip to right hand, left horn lacking, small chip to nose, satyr with chipping to hair, tip of right ear and tail, further small and minute chipping to extremities, firing faults and cracks, some small areas of wear to enamels)
