The circular silvered dial with engraved Roman chapter ring and signed HAMILTON AND INCHES EDINBURGH, blued steel spade hands, subsidiary seconds below XII and up-and-down sector above VI, stop/start gilt-brass button between chapters XII and I, the movement with heavy rectangular spotted brass plates, secured by four gilt-brass double-screwed baluster pillars, chain fusee and barrel, the spotted rectangular escapement platform with steel helical spring to cut bimetallic balance with circular heat compensation weights, Earnshaw-type spring detent escapement with jewelled locking stone, the underside of the platform and blued steel movement platform numbered 514, the brass line-inlaid case resting on adjustable brass feet and with glazed sides and top with spirit level
