The foliate engraved silvered dial with subsidiary date dial below, eight day timepiece movement with vertical platform, jewelled ratchet tooth lever escapement and plain three-armed gold balance, the rectangular case finely engraved with scrolling leaves and flowers, the inside of the back door signed C.F. Hancock a Successor of Storr & Mortimer's, by appointment to H.M. Queen Adelaide H.I.M. the Emperor of Russia, 39 Bruton Street, London, the clock case secured with latches to the multi-sectioned shaped stand with upturned handles, engraved overall with leaves and flowers within borders, a pen drawer to the front opening the ink well lid by spring catch, the stamp compartment lid released from the side, the inside of the base plate stamped THOS COLE LONDON, with original similarly engraved key numbered 531
