The case with foliate cast mounts and faceted handle to cushion top, with ball finials to the angles, with two glazed panels to the sides, with original foliate pressed brass mounts to the front and rear doors, on later bun feet, the 6¼in. square brass dial with winged cherub mask spandrels to the silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed G. Etherington London, strike/silent lever (lacking) by III, the matted centre with mock pendulum aperture (lacking bob), ringed winding holes, date aperture with engraved surround, brass alarm-set disc to the centre, later? pierced blued steel hands, the movement with seven substantial ringed pillars (three still latched, the remaider pinned), twin gut fusees, later anchor escapement, hour strike on later bell, formerly with alarm work and pull quarter repeat, the backplate engraved profusely with scrolling foliage and centred by a wheater-engraved oval reserves signed Geo: Ethington LONDON, with engraved brass wishbone spring to the barrel clicks, secured to the case with later? blued steel brackets
