The circular silvered Roman dial signed Jno. Thwaites LONDON with subsidiary seconds below XII and blued steel hands, the five pillar two train movement with Graham-type deadbeat escapement with jewelled pallets, hour strike on a bell with strike/silent lever above XII, the high grade zinc and steel five bar gridiron pendulum with massive brass-covered lead bob with blued steel pointer to a silvered calibrator below, the breakfront case with elaborate volutes with foliate carved terminals flanking the plinth, glazed trunk door with silvered beatscale set to the backboard, the hood flanked by further carved mahogany volutes, with pierced fishscale sound frets to the sides and surmounted by a brass ball-and-spire finial on a concave moulded pediment
