A Regency small mahogany and brass-mounted mantel timepiece, circa 1820
The arched case with satinwood line inlays to the front, brass lion mask ring handles to the sides and inset columns to the front angles, raised on brass ball feet, the white enamel Roman dial with pierced gilt-metal hands, front plate stamped I. THWAITES twice, the eight day five pillar (lower pillars threaded) movement with shouldered plates, single gut fusee with anchor escapement, the back plate with engraved border and signed Perigal & Dutereau/London, with pendulum holdfast and tear-shaped movement securing brackets, the inside of the case with impressed number 4836 -- 11½in. (29cm.) high
