A Victorian mahogany longcase regulator, late 19th century
The case with triangular cresting, solid sides and glazed front door with oak leaf and acorn dial mask, the panelled plinth raised on toupie feet, the 12in. diameter silvered and engraved Roman and Arabic dial inscribed REGULATOR, with blued steel spade hands and sweep seconds, the eight day movement with thick shouldered plates joined by four wide diameter pillars, Vulliamy-type deadbeat escapement, wheels with six crossings and maintaining power; with ebonised wood-rod pendulum with cylindrical lead bob, brass weight -- 82½in. (210cm.) high
