An unusual Napoleon III ormolu calendrical striking mantel clock, circa 1870
The case with urn finial above tesselated arched top, cast mock frets to the sides and with solid rear door, with male term mounts to the front angles and on foliate cast feet, with mask and foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with inner concentric calendar ring, foliate scroll engraved centre with penny moonphas aperture, blued steel hands, a silvered sector above indicating days of the week with ruling deity, above signature DENIERE PARIS, the eight day twin barrel movement with Brocot escapement and strike on bell to back plate with repeat signature -- 26¼in. (67cm.) high
