The case modelled with two towers above rows of niches with figures of saints, Gothic tracery windows, with outset spires above further niches, triple arched doors to the front with polychrome enamel decoration behind the windows, similar decoration to the sides and flanking a dial formed from the rose window, with individual white enamel Roman chapters and blued steel moon hands, signed below P. VILLEMSENS A PARIS, the eight day twin barrel movement with rectangular plates, repeat signature to the back plate, with silk suspension and countwheel strike on gong housed in the rosewood and floral marquetry plinth -- 24¼in. (61.5cm.) high on plinth; under glass dome (cracked)
