A French gilt-brass striking and repeating carriage clock with alarm, on stand, circa 1880
The gorge case with foliate scroll engraved gilt mask to the white enamel Roman and Arabic dial, with retail signature for LEROY & FILS/211 REGENT STREET/LONDON 13-15 PALAIS ROYAL/PARIS, the eight day twin barrel movement with silvered platform to bimetallic balance with lever escapement, strike/repeat on gong to the back plate stamped for Drocourt and numbered 8866, with retail inscription repassée par Leroy & fils/Palais Royal 13 & 15 Paris; on stepped and moulded stand, with winged mermaid supports to the angles -- 6¾in. (17.5cm.) high overall, to fold of handle
