An early Victorian engraved gilt-brass travel timepiece, mid 19th century
The case on bun feet supporting three-quarter columns, the panels to the sides, rear door and top profusely engraved with scrolling foliage, ball finials and foliate cast handle to the top, the silvered Roman dial with blued steel hands (later minute hand) and foliate engraved centre, the eight day four pillar single barrel movement with vertically mounted platform lever escapement with plain three-arm steel balance, the movement seatboard cover stamped E.C. SERLEY/CAMBRIDGE -- 5in. (12.5cm.) high to fold of handle
