A George III Irish mahogany longcase clock, third quarter 18th century
The hood with fretwork top and outset stop-fluted columns, conforming rear slats, with Greek key mouldings to the throat and blind-fret panelling above the arched trunk door flanked by stop-fluted three-quarter length half columns, on plinth with raised panel and on bracket feet, the 13½in. square cut-away brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed Dan.l Savill/LONDON, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring ringed winding holes and circular date aperture, the eight day four pillar movement with anchor escapement and inside countwheel strike on bell -- 88in. (224cm.) high
