An unusual Viennese giant walnut striking wall regulator of six month duration, circa 1880
The case with moulded arched top and projecting scroll angles, glazed side panels, with panelled backboard, waisted terminal, the two-piece white enamel dial with Gothic style Roman chapters, recessed centre with subsiiary seconds ring, raised gilt-metal winding collets and signed W. Schönberger, with blued steel hands, the four pillar movement with rectangular plates and secured with brass brackets to a sliding seatboard, wooden barrels, with deadbeat escapement, strike/trip repeat on gong, the wood rod pendulum suspended from the backboard and swinging against a beatscale; with two large brass weights -- 62¼in. (158cm.) high
