A gentleman's waistcoat of red wool broad cloth, front opening with high neckline fastening with buttons from collar to waist with splits to each side and back, elaborately embroidered in gilt threads and applied with sequins featuring scrolling foliage and shell motifs to front opening, pocket flaps, pockets and front hemline, the buttons covered with metal threads, lined with wool and linen, some moth damage, all over surface discolouration, some wear, circa 1740
