A RESTAURATION ORMOLU, BRONZE AND RED GRIOTTE MARBLE MANTEL CLOCK
CIRCA 1825
With seated figure of Cupid sharpening his arrows, his quiver laid at his side, lacking central enamel dial and hands, with bow and rose-tied wreath to the front, on a spreading stepped plinth with stylised stiff leaves and arabesque bracket feet, the movement stamped 'TN'

Lot Essay

This clock was probably acquired by Georgiana, second wife of John, 6th Duke of Bedford (d.1839) while travelling through Paris en route to Leghorn, where she is recorded in 1826. The secrétaire (lot 99) was also bought on this trip.
