A Rare Silver and Gold Damascened Charm Box, Gau
Tibet, 15th/16th Century
Of rectangular form with beveled edges, exquisitely worked in relief with the mantra 'Ohm Vajrapani Hum' inscribed in ranjana script letters flanked by scrollwork above and below, intertwined with phoenixes above and prancing deer supporting jewels on their heads below, the faceted sides with a further scrollwork frieze incorporating the Eight Auspicious emblems, the sides and hinges with diaper patterns
