Nepal, circa 13th Century
The central rectangular section finely worked with three images of Buddhas in aureoles interspersed with two large lotus flowerheads amidst scrollwork, all surrounded by stylized petal, bead, and flame borders, attached to a wood backing
8½ x 27 3/8 in. (21.5 x 69.5 cm.)

This cover was reduced in size at to fit another manuscript; a later related and similarly reduced example is at the Bayrische Staatsbibliothek, Munich, see G. Grönbold, Tibetische Buchdeckel, 1991, cat. no. 32, ill. p. 87.
