A Lacquer and Wood Cylindrical Picnic Set

The hinged cylindrical outer case decorated in marbleized pattern in green, black and gold lacquer, the front inset with a black-lacquer panel with a landscape in shell inlays and fitted with a brass loop handle, the hinges formed as snowflakes, the set comprising: a red-lacquer two-tier stacking box formed as a cherry blossom, the interior black lacquer; a two-tier stacking box formed as a snowflake, the exterior undecorated and the cover lacquered with a design of young pines in gold hiramaki-e on a black-lacquer ground; a two-tier black-lacquer stacking box formed as a crescent moon decorated on the cover with a willow tree in gold hiramaki-e, the interior red lacquer; twenty fan-shaped sweet trays with marquetry inlays and lacquered with maple leaves in gold hiramaki-e
