Decorated with gold and silver puppies, two playing with a folding fan, one biting a sash and several wrestling or at rest, in takamaki-e on a roiro-nuri ground, the sides of the box patterned with rui-shaped cloud bands of gold and silver togidashi, the underside of the cover decorated with a mother dog nursing two pups and surrounded by seven others, some colored in black and some in gold, silver or red lacquer, the removable utensil tray designed with three additional puppies, two playing with a shell on a long string, the grounds matching roiro-nuri and the rims fundame; fitted with a large rounded rectangular inkstone and silver mizuire chased with foliage in a flower-form saucer; base roiro-nuri
