A Four-Case Inlaid-Lacquer Inro**
Edo perod (19th century), signed Koami Choko saku
In the form of a monk's backpack (oi), with a pattern of ivy vines and phoenixes in red lacquer on a gold ground simulating stamped leather, the legs decorated in nashiji and the hardware designed to simulate silver-inlaid copper, the surface of the pack inlaid with mother-of-pearl and carved lacquer ivy leaves, the interior cases nashiji; fitted with a pierced gilt-metal bead ojime carved with flowers and a large ivory netsuke of a farmer asleep on a raft of bamboo
