Ginger Rogers (1911-1995), born Virginia Katherine McMath, was best known for her dancing partnership with Fred Astaire and her successful career as an award-winning actress. After winning a Charleston dance competition in 1922, Rogers was launched into the Vaudevillian circuit. In 1940, she won an Academy Award for the film "Kitty Foyle".
