A lacquer writing-box, suzuribako
19th century, with signature Korin
Of rectangular form with rounded corners, decorated in gold, silver and iroe hiramaki-e, takamaki-e and inlaid with aogai, the cover depicting a cockerel perched on a barrel amongst vine, the nashiji interior accomodating a tray fitted with a central inkstone below a silver oval water-dropper, some old wear and minor damage
