A mid 19th-Century Palmer's computing scale and Fuller's time telegraph,
constructed on a square board with gilt-stamped leather border and a volvelle on each side, the Time Telegraph dated 1845 with a calendar scale on the volvelle and two scales on the surround, one for days 1-365, the other for weeks 1-52, the Computing Scale dated 1843, improved by Fuller 1847, with a scale 1-100 with subdivisions to two decimal places on the volvelle, and a similar scale on the surround for making numerous calculations such as conversion between metric and imperial measurements, the speed of drums, computation of interest, tonnage of a ship and numerous others, kept in a cloth-covered card folder with instructions, examples and endorsements on both inside faces -- 29.2cm. (11½in.) square
