An unusual 19th-Century lacquered-brass vernier telescope,
signed Troughton & Simms, London, the 5-inch long telescope with lens cap and prismatic eyepiece mounted at right angles to a long brass tube graduated to 18in. with vernier, mounted over a bubble level on a flat brass plate, sliding on a larger brass plate with finescrew adjustment and clamp and staff mounting, with plumb bob, in a stained wooden case -- 59.6cm. (23½in.) wide
